Initiated by The Art of Silver gallery (TAOS), Salamanca Arts Centre, the award and exhibition aims to build youth confidence and enthusiasm for the design and craft of contemporary jewellery in Tasmania.

The TAOS Youth Jewellery Prize is a competition aimed at Year 11 & 12 college students (or those of equivalent age) in the Southern Tasmania area. The theme for 2014 is ‘below the surface’…

With two main award categories: Drawing & Design (prize: an iPad mini) to be judged by Rye Dunsmuir (Design Tasmania) and Fabricated Jewellery (prize: $500 voucher A&E Metals) judged by Kirsha Kaechele (artist, MONA curator). Plus a People’s Choice Prize.
