Back in 1963 a small band of dedicated rail enthusiasts created a museum devoted to the preservation of retired steam engines. Today, fifty years later, that group has grown into the Australia’s largest undercover rail museum and, as part of its fiftieth anniversary celebrations, is hosting a National Art and Photographic Competition and Exhibition, “Rail in Australia – yesterday and today”.

The artworks may be representational or abstract and the content criteria for the artwork and photographs will directly reference the theme of Rail in Australia from its beginning to the present. This exhibition is open to all artists and photographers in Australia and will showcase an exciting and diverse range of artistic depictions of the grandeur of our railways, from the past to the present.
