RQAS Young Artist Award

The Young Artist Award began as an initiative of the RQAS (Brisbane Branch) in 2016 and was originally open to all Queensland residents 17 to 30. The award is designed to encourage and support young artists in the pursuit of excellence

The Young Artist Award is now open to include two categories; Section 2 is open to artists 17 years and under, Section 1 is open to artists between 18 - 30 years old. Young artists are invited to submit two- dimensional artworks in the categories of painting and drawing of a subject created and observed from life, with the subject, genre, stylistic approach and medium of the artists choice.

All finalists will be granted RQAS membership for 1 year. The Young Artist Award is a part of the RQAS Biennial this program includes feature exhibitions, gala opening night events, artists talks, live music and more. This exhibition runs in conjunction with the Queensland Figurative. 

Entry forms are due to the gallery Wednesday, 28th of August, 3:30pm. The exhibition will be on show at Petrie Terrace Gallery from Friday, 27th of September to Sunday, 27th of October, 2024.
