The Mardi Gras Regional Art Prize is a $3000 visual arts prize and exhibition for established and emerging artists living in Australia. The program aims to celebrate diversity, acceptance, equality, and love in all its forms, and provide a platform for celebrating the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras in regional New South Wales. In 2016 the exhibition will be presented in the beautiful south coast town of Kiama, and artists will be asked to focus their work on the extraordinary career and inspirational life of Kiama born, Academy-award winning Hollywood costume designer Orry-Kelly, who's philosophy of life can be summed up by his old Sydney friend Rosie Boot (Sydney's best-dressed laced-mutton lady of the night) "You should only be ashamed of bein' ashamed"
