This is a biennial award.

It is hoped this prize will support the continuing development of the winning artists work, encourage a wider discussion and experience, and liberate sport and art from their opposing corners in the cultural landscape.

Whether sport is interpreted as tiddlywinks, or oblique references are made through more commonly shared experiences such as obsession, fanaticism or to win at all costs, the prize encourages a dynamic and critical reflection of all forms of sport and sporting culture in Australia.

Artists shortlisted for the finalists’ exhibition will each receive a participation fee of $3,000 (GST excluded), payable upon the opening of the exhibition.

Prize

  • Major Prize (acquisitive) - $100,000

  • People's Choice Prize - $5,000

  • All entants in the finalists exhibition receive a grant of $3000 each

Venue: Ian Potter Museum, University of Melbourne, Melbourne.
