Although I considered a conservative first trip, my very understanding wife volunteered to watch the kids while I did something adventurous for my 40th birthday. The fly would overwhelm the weight of the line, to a degree where accuracy would suffer. The flies would pendulum against that too-light fly line. A 6 wt line is better suited to making the weight and air resistance of these flies disappear. Last years record snow and summer rains revitalized the habitat to a great extent although much of the CRP has gone back into production. A couple pics from last week.

The Stickman Ti5 10 foot 5 weight is lighter in swingweight than the Hardy UL NSX, but in terms of action and feel, there is not much in it.
